They Make Books Out Of Cows

THE INSTRUMENTAL IS BACK

NOW BEAMING IN FROM COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL COPENHAGEN

....ok , ok I don't actually live in Copenhagen right now, I live just outside in a place called Albertslund...this is the view from the train station every morning...grafffffed up.
more Albertslund...only about seven stops away from the central city
my good buddy Filippos, from the greek isles and Iowa via Grinell...good dude.
our "scavenger hunt" group met up at this little fountain/dragon thing, about a block away from city hall and the center of the city.

ok a few skips ahead now, this is the view from the harbor bus, which was quite nice, even though I thought it would be like the water taxi in god-forsaken Baltimore...
my favorite building in Copenhagen and the future home of me studying all the time...
the Black Diamond as it is known, the Royal Library of Copenhagen
Now this is near Parliament/Christianborg palace, if you look really closely you'll see that the spire on this church is actually formed from the tails of three dragons...
top that.
the entrance to the former palace at Christiansborg/the current parliament
birds crossing the canal from the middle of the city towards the parliament building.

man these pictures are jumping all over the place, this is from the harbor bus again, I thought it was pretty awesome that the front opens up to let you in/out.the national opera, very recently completed, all off of the gift of a Copenhagen shipping magnate.

again on the harbor busawesome bike parked in the wall of the national theatre building...
in case you can't tell this whole post is touristy stuff from our "scavenger hunt"
but the pictures will get more personal in later posts.

our tour group ran into Laura's group at the theater...what up Laura!

just so you guys know , this tour was independently led so we were basically wandering...inside Nyhavn, or "New Harbor", where all the copenhagen postcards are from

Filippos walking around the actual royal palace...yes you can actually get that close to the queen's house and you can even DRIVE through the palace
the royal church across the street...gorgeous

many of the stores here have little fires running all the time out on the street in front of them, obviously more at night than in the daytime, just part of Denmark's culture I guess...very nice.
more Nyhavn...blogger is messing with my pictures.

a very romantic old couple that we saw walking around the palace grounds
some sort of royal politicians about to do business and the guards with the silly hats of course.
our intimidatingly tiny tour guide for this stop at the royal palace, pointing out some stuff on a map...he actually told us an incredible amount of history and info but it is late here so I'll have to do some other sort of "history" post...
more palace
filippos stands in the shadow of the kingdom

the beautiful inside of a church closer to where I actually go to school now...weird
a marching band/army regiment with musicians that randomly came down Stroget (the longest walking street/no cars allowed/single-street mall in Europe...no joke.)

alright now this is at a DIFFERENT palace across town, with a beautiful garden and grounds...although not as beautiful as my Danish teacher and any women on the street here...legit.

Alright peeps...
so I know this hasn't been updated in awhile but I PROMISE to be posting more often now that I've got internet in my room here and I've got my camera a-blazing.

for info:
I'm studying Communications and Mass Media at DIS Copenhagen.
I'll be here till May.
I miss you too.
Yes, the city is beautiful, and awesome, and expensive, and beautiful, and different.
And I'm loving it.
